NATIVE NOMADS | New Blog Website & New Year Updates!

Hi guys! So we decided to treat our new travel blog like a business, thanks to the amazing Zero to Travel podcast's advice (one of the big inspirations for this whole trip in the first place).  We looked at their article and have been scratching away at the actionable steps, whenever we aren't working, sleeping, working out or doing whatever else! :) We are still in the process of developing our blog - but we finally came up with a name (NATIVE NOMADS), bought the domain and set up the hosting! Here is our blog URL (still under construction):  NativeNomadLife.com
We are using Wordpress and a Divi theme to build the site. It will include multimedia pieces such as video (documentary, portrait, etc), photography, writing and more. We will let you know once it is officially launched!

We also booked our first leg of the trip! We will begin our first 30 days with an organization called Earth Connection - right outside Merida, Mexico volunteering for a eco-restoration project, while living (ahem.. camping!) in the jungle. They also offer other lovely perks - such as dipping in their very own private cenote each day and hiking into the jungle and nearby Mayan village - just to name a few.  We couldn't be more excited.

A cenote is a natural sinkhole - here is a pic of a cenote we visited last year near Chichen Itza named: Cenote Ik Kil
Here's a little more about Earth Connection:
"Earth Connection is dedicated to Eco-education and Leadership. We are focused on three main areas: First, offering courses on ecological and environmental sustainability education, leadership training, Second, ecological and horticultural research and technological innovation, and third, ecological restoration and carbon sequestration."
We have also begun the process of getting our cats, Winston and Annabelle, vaccinated so they can have their "passports" (vet papers) up to date and certified to travel with us internationally!  If you are looking for an amazing, caring, wonderful vet in Portland look no further than Roseway Veternary Hospital. We fell in love with everyone there! They made a potentially stressful situation stress-free - even fun!  They were able to help us with every single question we had and item we needed checked off our list.  Amazing place.

We will come back to Portland for the kitties some time during May 2018 - after our 30 day volunteer project is completed. During our 1st leg in Mexico - we will also be looking for the next volunteer project in the Yucatan area, as well as an awesome apartment that is cat-friendly. We sure do love our babies... our nomad babies!

And just one last update - we recently joined the amazing Location Indie online community and are growing in strides thanks to it! If you haven't heard of Location Indie, I encourage you to check them out. Gaining valuable techniques for making money on the road, resources, insider information of how to live a location independent lifestyle, and a worldwide network of fellow location indie people to connect with about going nomadic and all our new business/venture ideas are just a few of the gems we receive from this community.  We get to share about the progress we are making toward this dream life, while being held accountable to people who are doing the same thing, and learning from some of the more seasoned travelers and hosts of the programs. It has been such a gift and couldn't have come at a more perfect time.

& thanks to Location Indie's co-founder, Jason Moore, and his Zero to Travel podcast guest, Heath Armstrong - I also began the incredibly rad "Sweet Ass Journal: To Develop Your Happiness Muscle in 100 Days", this past January 1st, writing in it daily. It helps me tremendously to keep positive and focused, opening me up to my goals, struggles and wins as well as my creativity and passion.  It also helps me "slay my resistance gremlins!"  Check  out the book if you don't get the reference - I promise you won't regret it! ;)

So thanks for all of your enthusiastic comments, cheerleading, guidance and support along the way.  We couldn't be more excited to share with you about this adventure and the next steps ahead!  And don't be shy to hit us up in the comments section or by the contact page on this website if you have any questions, comments or fun tips!  :)
